Torsional Vibration Modeling and Analysis of Internal Combustion Engine as a Range Extender

Abstract: A torsional vibration model consisting of the models of engine, clutch, torsional damper, generator and range extender controller is established for the range extender of a commercial vehicle, and the response states of system, excitation torque and the time-domain and frequency-domain characteristics of torsional vibration under typical conditions are emphatically analysed. The results show that the torsional vibration of range extender is mainly related to the fluctuation and abrupt change of excitation torque of engine and generator and the resonance in some conditions
