Design Optimization of Vehicle Occupant Restraint System Based on Adaptive Surrogate Model

Abstract: In order to enhance the occupant protection performance of vehicle occupant restraint system and reduce the injury of occupants, an optimization method of occupant restraint system based on adaptive surrogate model is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the numerical model for the occupant restraint system of a minibus is established and then validated and corrected by real vehicle crash tests. Then, the surrogate model for the occupant restraint system is built based on radial basis function and the reverse shape parameter method is also used to enhance the accuracy of surrogate model. Finally, the intergeneration projection genetic algorithm (IP-GA) are adopted to optimize the occupant restraint system of vehicle. The results demonstrate that the method proposed can speedily obtain the optimum matching parameters of vehicle occupant restraint system and ensure the safety of occupants.
